World Mission Week
From 12 to 19 October, Christians around the world are invited to come together to celebrate World Missionary Week. This year, the Pope invites us to reflect on the theme: “Missionaries of hope among peoples.”
It is a significant moment in the year, dedicated to prayer, sharing, gathering, supporting wounded lives, and renewing our commitment to the missions of the Church.
The highlight of this week is World Mission Sunday, a day of universal prayer and tangible solidarity. It is a powerful and symbolic moment: on this day, a major collection is held, inviting the faithful to contribute to help those most in need and to support the Church’s missionary work throughout the world.
Established by Pope Pius XI in 1926, this initiative helps to fund numerous projects through the OPM (Œuvres Pontificales Missionnaires)*, now present in over 140 countries.
This week reminds us how important it is to support one another. Every Christian, wherever they may be, can be a sign of light and hope in service of the mission throughout the world.
