Vows of Sister Selcineide
Throughout the spring, you were able to follow the pilgrimage of the sisters in their third year before taking their perpetual vows on our website and social media.
Among them was a young Brazilian sister, Selcineide, who followed in the footsteps of the early Christians in Italy and France, tracing the history of the congregation and its iconic sites in the footsteps of Saint Thérèse Couderc. Upon her return to Brazil, she took her final vows.
From June 20 to 28, we were very close to Selcineide Moreno Ferreira during the preparations and celebration of her final vows.
The popular mission was part of these preparations, but it is also part of an ongoing missionary project of the Brazil Province, in view of the 200th anniversary of the Congregation and the 100th anniversary of the Cenacle’s presence in Brazil. The Sisters aim to visit places where the Congregation has previously been present.
Several Sisters from São Paulo, Minas Gerais, Fortaleza, and Rome took part in the mission, along with lay members of the Cenacle Fraternity and pastoral agents from the parish that hosted the mission.
The first day of the mission took place in Fortaleza, in one of the communities where Selcineide had accompanied a youth group.
On June 22, Véronique Fabre, Superior General of the Congregation, arrived in Brazil and travelled to Crateús, where the mission continued. Three places in the diocese were visited by the group of missionaries: Crateús and Independência, where we had a community, and São Antônio dos Azevedos, the village where Selcineide’s parents and family live.
Selcineide made her final vows in the parish of Senhor do Bonfim, in the Diocese of Crateús. The Mass was celebrated by Bishop Ailton Menegussi, bishop of the diocese, and concelebrated by several priests.
Nearly all the religious sisters of the diocese were present at the celebration, as well as at the dinner offered to all the guests after the Mass.
A festive moment shared with parents, family, friends, and the congregation!
