Feast of Our Lady of the Cenacle in Brixton, London, 2025

Having time to be together, to pray and to share a simple lunch!

Our ‘upper room’ was well occupied on Saturday as a number of people eagerly responded to our invitation to join us for the Feast! We were 22 in total which is our maximum number for an occasion like this.

Abbot Hugh Allen O.Praem, the Vicar for Religious for the Archdiocese of Southwark, celebrated the Mass.

The Feast of Our Lady of the Cenacle coincided here in the UK with the Feast of the Visitation, so, Fr Hugh in his homily linked the two feasts to the experience of accompaniment, Mary and Elizabeth accompanying each other, Mary accompanying all in the upper room, and we too called to accompany each other.  He expressed gratitude for the gift of our Cenacle charism highlighting how we accompany people in diverse ways in the Archdiocese and beyond.

Being at a house Mass is a rare occasion for many people here, so everyone appreciated having time to be together, to pray, and to share a simple lunch in a relaxed informal way. There were lots of different conversations about life, faith and Church. For some it was their first time in the Cenacle.  All felt welcomed and at home. Fortunately, it was a beautiful sunny day so we were able to sit in the garden!
